Take advantage of the ergonomically designed AME System workstation framework, backed by over 30 years of industry experience since 1993.

With decades of expertise, our organisation is here to provide you with valuable insights and practical solutions, tailored to your specific needs.

This checklist will guide you through the systematic planning and implementation of a workstation that aligns perfectly with your requirements.

Please read below.

What is the purpose of the workstation, and what tasks will it support?

Industrial assembly tables with ergonomics in mind will ensure your manufacturing operation remains competitive.

Workstations can feature a range of work surfaces, including stainless steel, phenolic resin, or epoxy, to meet cleanroom or chemical resistance requirements.

Electronics workstations require Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) surfaces with a grounding bolt to prevent charge build-up on sensitive components.

Test and inspection workstations can demand a variety of considerations: lighting, magnification, ESD surfaces, or cleanroom requirements.

In fast-paced E-commerce environments, packing tables and shipping stations should be carefully designed to minimise repetitive motions and support employee productivity and well-being.

Establish materials workflow

Assess how items arrive at the workstation. Are they delivered via a conveyor or brought by a trolley?

Review all tasks performed at the station once items arrive. Engage with operators to gather suggestions for process improvements.

Evaluate how items leave the workstation. In industrial setups, the size and nature of items exiting may differ significantly from the incoming supplies.

Define the process for replacing parts or consumables. Determine the space required for efficient storage at the station. Consider customising the workstation design to create additional storage without compromising ergonomic standards.

Determine Material Handling Requirements

Evaluate the movement of parts within the workstation and between workstations, including loading and unloading. Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary time and effort spent moving items.

  1. Are conveyors positioned at the correct height for optimal use?
  2. Are storage boxes or containers appropriately sized for the task, considering material quantities and weight?
  3. Are trolleys equipped with easy-rolling wheels and user-friendly brakes that lock securely in both rotation and movement?
  4. Should trolleys with height-adjustable platforms be considered for better flexibility and ergonomic efficiency?

Consider the List of All Items Required at the Workstation

List all tools required for the task, including hand and power tools, assembly and test fixtures, soldering irons, etc.

Identify equipment such as microscopes, gauges, scales, test fixtures, and scopes. Estimate the electrical and air requirements for each tool or instrument to ensure proper layout planning.

Include all items and parts used for assembly, testing, or quality checks, such as boxes, bags, tape, labels, etc. Also, evaluate material handling into and out of the workstation, as efficient movement of materials with ergonomic considerations is often one of the most challenging aspects of workstation design.

Identify any prints, documents, binders, books, touch screen monitors, tablets, or LED displays. Ensure charts and displays are positioned for ease of viewing from left to right and top to bottom, and avoid excessive use of colours that may cause distractions.

Decide on Workstation Type

The benchtop should be large enough to accommodate all required tasks, but compact enough to minimise operator reach and interaction.

Will the workstation be used by multiple operators across different shifts? Ensure the height is adjustable to suit varying user requirements.

See Height Adjustable Workstations from AME System.

Evaluate the weight of all items, parts, and equipment that the workbench will need to support to ensure the workstation can handle the load..
